I always find myself in a fortunate position to have a wife who is so understanding and willing to share time with me doing things that really aren’t in her wheelhouse; and sportscar racing at tracks around the US happens to be one of them.  However, she was a good sport and came along with me for this years Rolex 24 at Daytona.  Since moving to NC in November of last year, this now affords me the opportunity to drive to some of the best tracks in the southern US.  Daytona was a 7 hour drive and we headed down on Friday for the race.  The race, if you consumed any post-race summaries from any of the various sources (including imsa.com), was pretty unbelievable.  It had a lot of cars competing closely for much of the 24 hours and had a photo finish at the end in the GT category (closest finish in the 54 year history).  I have to say the Daytona 24 did not disappoint, we had a blast and got to experience the fireworks, food, hospitality areas, fan walk, autograph session, and ride the ferris wheel, which are all part of the total fan experience.  I highly recommend this event to others who are even remotely interested in competitive sportscar racing, though the event is more than just that.
